Career | Expertise

Michael Werder studied law in Berlin and Berne. During his time as assistant at the chair for Public and Commercial Law at the University of Berne, he received his doctorate for his dissertation “Property and Constitutional Change”. Michael Werder was admitted to the bar in Zurich in 1978.

After working for a large Zurich law firm, Michael Werder founded his own law firm some 40 years ago. He handled large mandates in the area of restructuring and liquidation. Among others, he represented the interests of creditors in the cases of Orna press, Papierfabrik Biberist, Von Roll AG, SAir Group (Swissair), Uniwood Holding AG (Erb Group) and Swisslog. Michael Werder has extensive experience as a representative of injured parties, in particular vis-à-vis banks, asset managers and investment companies. Today, Michael Werder still attends to selected mandates as a counsel, inter alia in the field of estate planning.
